![]() ![]() We can now get much more done in a day’s time than we ever could in the past due to all of the new technological gadgets and devices we now have at our disposal.īut where you can get into major trouble with the Lord in your own personal walk with Him is to take all of that break-neck speed in being able to get things done and accomplished, and then try to throw that in the middle of our walk with the Lord with how He will want to work things out in our lives.Īgain, God usually has a much slower time frame and a much slower way of working things out in our life than we do.Īnd if we do not learn how to adjust to His slower time frame and the slower way He likes to work things out in our life, we could easily get ourselves knocked right out of our calls and our divine destinies that He has set up for each one of our lives. It is very nice that we can have fast-food restaurants, computers, and the rest of the technological inventions that we now have in place so we can make our lives that much better and that much easier to navigate through. One of the things I have found out in my own personal walk with the Lord is that many of the times, He will have a much slower way of working things than I ever thought He would. We are so used to everything moving at break-neck speed, that we then have a very hard time in adjusting to the slower ways that God will work things out in our life. Computers are now moving faster than ever before and they are allowing news events to hit the screen just right after the news event has actually occurred. In the very fast-paced world in which we all now live in, things are set up for maximum speed and efficiency.įast food restaurants are a favorite for many people because they like to be able to go through a fast drive-thru and receive their order in just a matter of minutes. After you’ve learned the right attitude, then God’s free to go to work on the problem.Without question, one of the hardest things for many Christians to do with the Lord is to wait on His timing to make certain things happen in their lives. God is more interested in making you mature than he is in making life easy. Why? Because he wants to change us first. God answers our prayers immediately, but sometimes there’s a delay in the giving of the gift. In fact, the tense of the word “heard” in this Scripture means it’s already happened. And the angel came and said, ‘Your prayer’s been answered.’” The fact of the matter is, he had given up on this prayer years earlier. ![]() If you read the passage casually, it looks like, “He went into the Temple. Why didn’t he believe it?īecause he had stopped praying that prayer years before. Gabriel went on to say that Elizabeth would give birth to a son who would eventually “make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Then Zechariah says in verse 18, “How can I be sure of this?” He’s the ultimate skeptic. The angel Gabriel visited him and said, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah your prayer has been heard” (Luke 1:13 NIV). The Bible tells the story of Zechariah, who was very old and whose wife, Elizabeth, could not have children. But if God ever sent an angel to meet me face-to-face and say, “Rick, I’m here to tell you that God has answered your prayer,” I think I’d be convinced. Sometimes I have a hard time believing God’s going to answer my prayers. That means according to his schedule, his timetable - whenever God thinks is best. But we’ve got to change our attitude if we want to receive an answer from God!įirst, we must be willing to let God answer in his own time. We do a lot of praying, but we don’t expect an answer. I think that little girl unintentionally summarized the prayer lives of most Christians. So when the letter arrived, the missionary got a kick out of reading, “Dear Mr. Evidently, she’d been told not to request a response to her letter because the missionaries were very busy. ![]() I heard a story once about a young girl who wrote a letter to a missionary, trying to encourage him and lend her support.
